VANDERBILT UNIVERSITY – NEED-BLIND ADMISSION
Beginning Fall 2009, need-based financial aid packages offered to entering undergraduate students will not include need-based loans. Vanderbilt University's seven-year initiative of progressively reducing education-related undergraduate student debt will reach a bold new level. Financial aid packages for incoming and
current undergraduate students beginning in the fall of 2009 will include no need-based loans. The amount of need-based loans you would have been offered in the past to meet your demonstrated financial need will now be replaced with increased amounts of Vanderbilt scholarship and/or grant assistance Visit:

         TULANE UNIVERSITY
         Tulane University is rebuilding and growing.  Named one of the “Hottest Schools in
         American” by Newsweek magazine 2007.  After Katrina, Tulane University only
         had 882 new students, fall of 2008 this number doubled and continues to grow for Fall 2009.

#32   YOUTH FOR UNDERSTANDING USA
         Scholarships for American students to travel overseas for summer semester and year
         programs. Students who are eligible to attend our programs are in middle or high
school. We also have high school programs for students who are currently in
9th-12th grade.  Students who are successful with our programs usually have a B
average or above and/or have a demonstrated potential for leadership.  These
students also have a general interest in the academic conference topics.  Our tuition
for last year ranged from $1599 - $5000 depending upon the conference length and
location.  The higher tuition being that of our overseas programs.  We are currently
working on posting the tuition for this year.  When students receive our conference
materials in the mail, they will receive this information as well as information on

Program Purpose
To provide a financial incentive for a student to complete the bachelor's degree with as few courses outside the degree plan as possible. Minimizing the number of courses taken by students results in financial savings to the students, their parents and the state
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
•   Took their first college course in Fall 1997 or later;
•   Have been Texas residents at all times while pursuing the degree;
•   Have been entitled to pay in-state tuition at all times while pursuing the degree; and
•   Have not yet graduated.
Key Eligibility Requirements
         Students qualify for the 1,000 rebate if they have attempted no more than three
         semester credit hours in excess of the minimum number of hours required for their
         degree. For example, a student who completes a bachelor's degree that requires 120
         credit hours with no more than 123 credit attempted may qualify for this rebate.
         Beginning with students admitted for the first time in fall 2005, a student must also
         graduate in a timely manner to earn the tuition rebate. According to the most recent
         revision of the law governing the tuition rebate program, a student who wants to
         qualify to receive the rebate must graduate with in four calendar years for a four-year
         degree or within five calendar years for a five-year degree “if the degree is in
         architecture, engineering, or any other program determined by the Board to require
         more than four years to complete.” Currently the Board has not identified any other
         five-year degree programs.

         ELIGIBILITY:  SENIOR
         CRITERIA:  must attend college in Austin, College Station, Denton, or San Marcos.
         Scholarships are awarded for the partial cost of an OFF-CAMPUS room for one (1) academic
         year at the Ballpark in Austin, Town Lake in Austin, the Ridge at North Texas, the Ridge at
         San Marcos and the Cambridge in College Station or at an alternate comparable facility if
         designated by TSH.  This scholarship cannot be transferred to another university
         or location.  A scholarship awardee is eligible for scholarship support the following year if
         the student maintains TSHA established academic and leadership standards and communicates
         with the TSHA Board as required.  A college grade point average of 3.0 is desired for renewal
