BEST BUDDIES 
Club Description: Best Buddies is a non-profit organization that pairs special needs students with regular ed students. The club is international and began in 1987. Best Buddies envisions a world where people with disabilities are so successfully integrated into our schools, workplaces and general communities that soon, these services will be unneccessary.

BOOK CLUB 
Description: Students who enjoy reading meet to discuss and share their appreciation or criticism of literature in a variety of genres.  Titles are selected by vote from a proposed list offered by the officers.

Club Description: Business Professionals of American (BPA) is a national organization giving students the opportunity to sharpen their business skills andcompete on a state and national level. CHESS CLUB
Club Description: The Chess Club meets on Thursdays, after school, to provide opportunities for students to play chess and to visit with others who like the game of chess. All skill levels are welcome including those who would like to learn how to play.

C.L.E.A.R
Club Description: C.L.E.A.R. stands for Clean Living Encouragement and Responsibility and is a voluntary positive peer group of youth committed to a drug and alcohol-free lifestyle. Students make this committment by volunteering to be randomly drug tested. Membership is open to all FISD 7th-12th graders who are committed to a drug and alcohol-free life. We have a fabulous group of leaders this year who are committed to making this a great year for CLEAR members. COMPUTER CLUB
Club Description: The Computer Club is open to any student who has successfully completed a Computer Science class or is currently enrolled in a Computer Science class. Club members are encouraged to compete in UIL contests. Peer tutoring through a club developed web page is planned. nts at regional, state, and national levels.

CREATIVE WRITING CLUB
Club Description: The Creative Writing Club provides young writers with the opportunity to explore the writing process with their peers.  Club activities offer members a supportive environment in which to share their work and writing experiences, learn from other authors (including professionals), and become more informed about publishing opportunities.  Membership is open to any student who shares a passion for writing.

(DECA) DISTRIBUTIVE EDUCATION CLUBS OF AMERICA
Club Description: DECA is a professional association of Marketing students which is co-curricular to the Marketing Education, International Marketing and Advertising/ International Marketing courses. DECA enhances that education by providing marketing-related activities and leadership development based directly on classroom study.
DECA's activities focus on competition, on the local, state, and national level, in specific occupational skills, leadership development and management training.
In every state, four territories, the District of Columbia, and Canada, DECA offers students the opportunity to excel and to be recognized for their achievements in marketing education. DECA's student divisions in high school, and Delta Epsilon Chi at the college level, are student organizations specifically created to provide teaching/learning experiences to be used both in and out of the classroom.

DRAMA CLUB
Club Description: The Friendswood High School Drama Club is an organization designed for those students who truly wish to contribute to educational theatre. Throughout the year the Drama Club assists FHS productions in many ways, from performance to ticket sales, from technical to concessions. Friendswood High School Drama Club dues are $10 annually. This money is used to purchase refreshments, help sponsor a picnic and supply door prizes throughout the year. A membership form can be obtained from the Drama Office. Drama Club meetings are held every Wednesday at 7:45 am and 3:45 pm.

(FCA) FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN ATHLETES
Club Description: Any student or faculty member who is involved in any aspect of UIL or club athletics (including cheerleading, trainers, or drill team) is welcome to be part of Friendswood High's chapter of the national organization of FCA, the largest para church organization of Christians in the US. Meetings are informal and student led; students and coach's share, read scripture, listen to speakers, pray, and challenge each other to live a life centered in a relationship with Christ. Opportunities for events and camps are also available.
Meetings: Weekly Bible Studies on Thursday mornings from 7:45 - 8:15 @ The Corral

(FCCLA) FAMILY, CAREER, AND COMMUNITY LEADERS OF AMERICA
Club Description: A national student organization associated with Family and Consumer Sciences classes. It addresses leadership, societal issues, promotes well being, and community service projects.
Club Information: The member may compete in competitions called STAR events for scholarship money. Any student who has ever taken a Family and Consumer Sciences course may become a member

(FFA) FUTURE FARMERS OF AMERICA
Club Description: Membership in FFA is limited to students who are enrolled in one of the agriculture science classes. This is a national organization with over 1300 chapters in Texas alone. Competition opportunities are leadership contests in the fall, career development contests in the spring and raising and showing animals throughout the year. Students travel to many high schools and universities for contest sites. Many outside activities are available to students throughout the year. The purposes of this organization are to develop leadership skills, organizational skills, responsibility, and productive citizens for the future.

FRENCH CLUB
Club Description: The French Club provides a unique opportunity for students to become acquainted with different aspects of the French Culture. Activities include learning about French cuisine, French films, and dining at French restaurants. Membership in the club is highly encouraged for French language students interested in the French way of life and French traditions.

GERMAN CLUB
GERMAN CLUB
German Club is a student organization, designed to celebrate and learn about the German Culture. Any student interested in these goals is welcome, whether they are enrolled in German class or not. A monthly meeting with activity is held at the school and most months include an off-campus activity as well, such as German Saturday, Octoberfest, German opera, State German Contest, etc.
GERMAN NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY (Delta Epsilon Phi)
GNHS is a national honor society with chapters on high school and college campuses. The GNHS works in conjuction with the German Club, but includes a service component as well. Members participate in one group service project per semester, as well as complete individual hours. Membership is voluntary, but initialized on a purely academic basis. All German students are considered for membership after the first semester of German II. Students must have an 'A' average in German and an 85 cumulative high school average.
GERMAN AMERICAN PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM (GAPP)
GAPP is a bi-lateral, homestay exchange program, supported by the US State Department and German Ministry of Education. Participating students host a German teenager from our partner school in Bonn, Germany for 3 weeks. Friendswood students visit their partners for 3 weeks in June. Elligible students must be in German II or higher and at least a sophomore before applying to the program. The program is a year-long committment and will be next experienced in the 2009-2010 school year.

(HOSA) HEALTH OCCUPATIONS STUDENTS OF AMERICA

Club Description: HOSA is a national student organization endorsed by the U.S. Department of Education and the Health Science Technology Education Division. HOSA's mission is to promote career opportunities in the health care industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people. HOSA's goal is to encourage all health occupations instructors and students to join and be actively involved in the HSTE-HOSA Partnership.

HOSA provides a unique program of leadership development, motivation, and recognition exclusively for secondary, postsecondary, adult, and collegiate students enrolled in HSTE programs. HOSA is 100% health care!

Our award winning local chapter is very active in leadership development, community service, as well as the competitive events offered by National HOSA. HOSA is open to any student who has an interest in the health care profession, not just students who take Health Science Cluster classes. Our meetings are held the 2nd and 4th Friday every month at 7:45 in room 2007.

Club Description: Interact is a world-wide organization for youth interested in service and international understanding. Interact is sponsored by Rotary International. The Interact Club performs community service projects as a group and performs at least one international projec..

LATIN CLUB
Club Description: Junior Classical League is an international organization headquarters at Miami University of Ohio whose purpose are to foster academic achievement and to promote camaraderie among high school Latin students both intramurally and intermurally. Our primary events are the regional and Texas State conventions in the spring each year; we also have an annual outing to the Greek Festival at the Annunciation Cathedral in Houston in September. At Christmas we celebrate Saturnalia, a winter feast. For fundraising we sell European candy. Membership in JCI is not mandatory, but carries with it many perks.
The clubs mission is to unite in the study of classics, to join a community of like-minded individuals from across the country, and to have great fun in the endeavor.

MATH AND SCIENCE CLUB
Club Description: Math Club is an organization open to any student enrolled in a college preparatory mathematics class. Students are encouraged to enter academic contests and participate in UIL events. Peer tutoring for math classes are made available. Guest speakers and field trips are scheduled during the year. Mu Alpha Theta is a national high school and junior college honor society for students who have excelled in mathematics. Membership in Math Club is a prerequisite. Students must earn 30 service points to join.

M&M (MYSTERIOUS MUSTANGS)
Club Description: We are mysterious through our random acts of kindness which we perform. Our purpose is to encourage and uplift. We as club members nominate students and faculty, and we accept nominations from other students as well as faculty. These nominees are individuals whom we feel either deserve or need a pat on the back. We then simply hand out little candy packages, send a card, deliver flowers, and more.
Club Infomation: Everyone is welcome, and anyone can offer nominations to the club. We meet once a week on Monday at 3:50pm in room 221. We have a make-up meeting on Tuesday at 8:00am for those who can't come on Mondays. Come join us, bring a friend, bring ideas, or bring a bag of M&M's to share.

(NAHS) NATIONAL ART HONOR SOCIETY
Club Description: The National Art Honor Society was created for the purpose of inspiring and recognizing those students who have shown an outstanding ability in art. The NAHS strives to aid members in working toward the attainment of the highest standards in art areas, and to bring art education to the attention of the school and the community. Students do not have to be currently enrolled in a Friendswood art class to be elligible to become a member...We meet every Thursday morning in her room, 422 at 7:45 A.M. The purpose of the club is to promote art in the community and in our school. New members are welcome and membership is $3 for the year.

NEWSPAPER & YEARBOOK
Club Description: The Roundup staff works together to produce the yearbook, the longest lasting record of your high school years. The entire staff is involved in taking pictures, selling ads, and planning the layout and general design of the book. Students are encouraged to attend a summer camp/workshop. This course is open to all grades with the approval of the advisor.

(NHS) NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY
Club Description: The Friendswood National Honor Society is governed by the national organization. To qualify for membership in the Friendswood Chapter of the National Honor Society, a student must meet requirements set in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service and character. Candidates for election to NHS must be members of the Sophomore, Junior or Senior class. To be eligible for membership, a student who is a Senior must have a cumulative average of at least 7.210. Sophomores and Juniors must have a cumulative average of at least a 7.210. All students who rise in scholarship to or above such standards may be admitted to candidacy for election to membership. Applications are sent to students in fall through their English classes if the required cumulative GPA has been met. Students must then show they are involved in a wide range of activities and community service before they are accepted. More details on the requirements for activities and community service are given in the Mustang Manual. Students and parents may also find how to calculate cumulative GPAs on the 8 point scale in the Mustang Manual.

PAL-PEER ASSISTANCE AND LEADERSHIP®
Club Description: PAL-Peer Assistance and Leadership® is an award winning, non-profit program providing effective training in "resiliency" strategies. The PAL® peer helping program combats problems such as violence in schools, drug abuse, teen pregnancy, gang participation and school dropouts by providing a critical line of defense both at school and in the home through building peer helping programs all over Texas.

PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB
Purpose: To document sports, clubs, school activities, student events and student life at Friendswood High School and the surrounding neighborhood.
To collaborate with other clubs in order to facilitate their growth and to document their activities. To create and maintain an archive of photographs that document life at Friendswood High School and that will be accessible for years to come. To establish a bulletin board, or other type of medium, where pictures can be placed as well as articles to greet visitors and show them the many faces and achievements of Friendswood High School. To strengthen student-faculty relations and to help staff members gain a better understanding of the lives that students live at Friendswood High School. To allow students a medium for expression and exploration of their creative sense by allowing them to work alongside and to learn from peers. Work with the yearbook staff to provide photography for the book. Create a website to provide a medium to display work and contests for the district and community

SKILLS USA-VICA
Club Description: Memberships in VICA are limited to students enrolled in Career Preparation. The clubs have chapters in junior high and secondary schools throughout the state. The purpose of the clubs is to broaden the fellowship of students in the cooperative programs through attendance at state-wide functions, to promote leadership development and demonstrate their skills in various vocations in helping develop responsible citizens through the world of work.

SPANISH CLUB & SPANISH HONOR SOCIETY
Club Description: The Spanish Club is an extension of the cultural studies of Spanish classes. It provides students with a social outlet related to Spanish and a chance for camaraderie among the students. Highlights include dinners at various restaurants, program meetings, and service projects. Membership is open to those currently or formally enrolled in Spanish classes at FHS. The Spanish Honor Society members are also members of the Spanish Club. The Sociedad Honoria Hispanica is a group within the Spanish Club whose members have demonstrated, through outstanding performance in their classes, excellence in their Spanish studies. Honor Society members participate with the Spanish Club in projects and outings.

TRI-M MUSIC HONOR SOCIETY

Club Description: M is the international honor society recognizing secondary music students for their musical ability, academic excellence, school involvement, and community service. The requirements for membership include maintaining an “A” grade in music classes and a “B” average in other classes. Students must also earn a Division 1 rating at Solo and Ensemble Contest, or earn membership in a High School All-Region Auditioned organization. Tri-M members will have the opportunity to perform at school and in the community.
